Invisalign® Clear Aligners
In an attempt to correct badly positioned teeth, metal braces are often used. However, they come with many drawbacks such as food restrictions, discomfort, sores, and even their socially unacceptable appearance. The advent of Invisalign has been able to remove many of these disadvantages. Invisalign is a plastic form of braces that is transparent, and it uses clear tray aligners. The aligners help slowly move misaligned teeth back into position. They are alternatives to metal braces. Their main advantage over metallic braces is their near invisibility. Invisalign is also used for patients who have relapsed in their already completed orthodontic treatment. They are easier to remove and require fewer visits to the dental office than traditional metal braces. They are also easy to remove before eating, drinking, or brushing. As compared to metal braces, use of Invisalign requires fewer visits to our dental office, and there are no emergency visits for broken wires. At Peninsula Family Dental Center, we can discuss your orthodontic needs and treatment options.
How Are Clear Trays Made and Worn?
At a visit to our dental office, your teeth and overall oral health are examined. Impressions of your dentition are taken, and your customized aligners are made from Invisalign's blend of plastic. The stages between your present and desired teeth positions are suggested by a dental scanner, and a series of aligner trays, which look similar to mouthguards, are made. After they are made, the clear aligners are worn on the teeth and bitten gently into position. The custom-fit aligners are made to suit the size of your teeth and gumline to offer maximum comfort and prevent achiness. Each aligner is worn for about one to two weeks, depending on your oral needs. Each aligner must be worn for about 20-22 hours per day for effectiveness. The length of treatment also depends on the severity of your case.
How Much Does Invisalign Cost?
Invisalign is not necessarily more expensive than traditional braces. The total cost of your Invisalign treatment depends on your oral condition, the time and effort of the input from our dental professional, your dental insurance plan, and the cost of living in your location. Convenient payment options can often be made using a Medicaid or Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), health savings account (HAS), flexible savings account (FSA), monthly payment plan at our dental clinic, or zero-interest credit card.
After you have successfully used your clear aligners as directed by our dental professional, you will have to wear a retainer, which may be removable or cemented in place, to retain your teeth in position. If our dental professional's instructions for your Invisalign and retainer use are strictly adhered to, there should not be any relapses. Keep consultation appointments with our dental professional throughout your treatment period. While using your Invisalign aligners, maintain good oral hygiene. Brush and wash your clear aligners regularly.
While using Invisalign, there are no restrictions on what you can eat. In addition, kids or adults can obtain clear aligner treatment. If you want to correct your crooked teeth and improve your smile, please do not hesitate to reach us at Peninsula Family Dental Center. Call (907) 283-9125 today.
